"THE MOST WASTED DAY OF ALL IS ONE IN WHICH WE HAVE NOT LAUGHED!"

The above quote was sent to me in an e-mail from a very dear and wonderful friend!
I am a firm believer in laughter and do it quite often! Sometimes it may be from nervousness, or to get out of a sticky situation, but, most of the time, I laugh because it makes me feel good inside, especially when I am having a trying day. I can find at least one thing to smile and laugh about in a day! Actually, I find several things to laugh at! After all, laughter is considered the best medicine! Laughter makes a bad day good again and can brighten up even the darkest day! When I am down and out or when I am having extreme pain, I will still find something to laugh about. Laughter is as contagious as the flu! Haven't you ever started laughing at something so hard that when someone sees you, they just join in and may never even know what it is that you are laughing about? I enjoy this kind of laughter! I have even been the person that sees or hears the laughing and I just chide right in along with them. Some people may think this is strange but I don't. Laughter to me is something that God has given to everyone, the healthy, the sick, the blind, the deaf, the mute, the developmentally challenged, every person that walks upon this earth! I know some that ask me how I manage to laugh when things some times seem to be falling apart at my feet! Well, my reasoning is that why waste the time to cry and frown about what cannot be controlled? It's very simple! I smile now even though there may be very trying and hard days ahead for my children, my family itself! Of course, I may break down and cry because this too is good medicine and I do that very well also! When I have reached the tip of the iceburg and feel as if I can't take it anymore, I will have a good cry! Then, afterwards! I will still find something to laugh about! When you are feeling down and out, think about something that makes you truly happy, where it brings a smile to your face! Or, think about something that is so funny that has happened recently or in the past, and have a good chuckle over it. Or, if you want, laugh at this crazy woman telling you to smile and laugh who cries and then laughs herself! That might help right there! They say, "Laugh and the world laughs with you," so, what are you waiting for?

"A TIME FOR FRIENDSHIP"

Have you ever thought about friendship? Ever wondered why one minute, you have a friend and the next, you don't? They say that everything happens for a reason and I am a firm believer of this! But! I will still never understand how someone can just completely disappear out of your life and not give you a reason! I'm sure it has happened to many people and it leaves them with a sense of sadness, maybe guilt, wonderment, a feeling of loss just as if you were mourning a death. Friendship is a gift from God, something that you earn, something that is to be respected and rejoiced! I myself have had a few that disappeared from my life without explanation whatsoever!
It is said that people come into your life for a reason or a season! They are put there for a purpose, maybe to fulfill something that needs to be completed in some way! And, when that purpose is fulfilled, they are no longer needed! Of course, not by you or myself, but, because it is a cycle of life. I cherish each and everyone of the people that come into my life! Friendship is very precious to me, always has been and always will be! There are those of course that stay in your life and grow right along with you! It's always been my purpose to give all I've got to my friends, let them know how much I love and appreciate them! Sometimes this is not enough and you are left with a feeling of despair when one turns away! I am also a firm believer that if you let go and it/they return, it is meant to be.
There are times when I might overstep the boundaries when it comes to my friends and I leave them no choice but to make a decision of some sort. I don't do this on purpose, it just happens! This is where I hope they somehow find their way back into my life! I guess what I am trying to get at, is, treat your friendships gently and lovingly because there is a time for friendship and I believe that is every day! Call that one up you have not heard from in so long or have maybe never even talked to except through e-mail. Friendships are meant to be!

ATTITUDE!!!!!!

Just what does attitude mean? Well, according to the dictionary, attitude is: 1) the position or posture assumed by the body in connection with an action, feeling, mood. 2) a manner of acting, feeling, or thinking that shows one's disposition, opinion. 3) one's disposition, opinion, mental set. 4) the position of an aircraft or spacecraft in relation to a given line or plane, as the horizon.
Now! What do I think attitude means? Oh, well, let me see! For those who have read this before will know that I have let it sit on my site unfinished for quite some time. That is called "procrastination" which is completely another story! Anyway! Hmmmm! My meaning of "Attitude" can be many things! The thing that automatically comes to mind is "teenager" when I hear the word attitude. Oh, don't we all know that word? If you have kids you do, and all those who were once kids themselves, have to know this word. Standing by a car and telling your dad, "I'll hold my breath until I turn blue!" is definitely attitude. My mom and dad and I were on vacation on the Sacremento River where we once lived in a tent coming across country from Pennsylvania. I can't exactly recall what it was that I did to make my dad so angry that he told me to go stand by the car and "don't move until I say so!" Okay, fine! I did as he said! Then, I crossed my arms difiantly and said, "I'll hold my breath until I turn blue!" and believe me, I took the deepest breath a twelve year old could and stood there with my cheeks ready to explode. See, I always had a strategy back then and knew I would get my way for the most part, being the very spoiled only daughter of my wonderful father. He looked at my mother who by now was grinning and he burst out laughing so hard that he turned around and said, "get out of here", (worked every time). Got my way once again! Attitude is good to have at times! Of course, it can also get you into a lot of trouble! Actually I was the angel child in my family and aside from little things like that above, I did nothing to make my parents truly angry with me. Flirting is an attitude as well, which I am very good at! I love to flirt! It's harmless to me and I receive the smiles and the winks right back. Oh, you know, a little touch on the arm here and a little hug there, a peck on the cheek and occasionally one on the lips, of course it's always with someone we know and not a stranger! It's something that my husband knows means nothing, because he knows I am the huggy, kissy type. Now to be on the serious side for a minute. Attitude is something that I try to pride myself in! They say a positive attitude will get you through just about anything! And, it is true! I have found that no matter how bad the situation, if you keep your head held high and let nothing get you down, you can conquer the world and everyone in it. I have never really been a pessimist, always looked for the good in people and never the bad, always looked for the soft side of a person and not the hard callous side, which I might add I have come across a time or two. But, I am one of those people who look at the world through rose colored glasses and I will continue to look at a world that has much cruelty and anger in it, this way. I'm not going to say that I don't get down or overwhelmed by every day life, but I do this because if I looked for the bad in everything I see, I would have no hope for tomorrow! With no hope for tomorrow, there will be no "today". I've said it many times that finding just one thing to smile about in a day, can make all the difference in the world. I hope you find your "attitude".

BELOW IS SOMETHING THAT EVERYONE CAN AFFORD TO DO! THIS WAS SENT TO ME BY MY GOOD FRIEND AND POET PAT FORD. I LIKE IT SO WELL THAT I JUST HAD TO POST IT HERE FOR EVERYONE TO SEE!

8 Gifts that do not cost a cent

..1.THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION: The easiest way to feel
good is to extend a kind cheery word to someone. It's really not
so hard to say, "Hello" or "Thank you."
--2. THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT:
You can really brighten someone's
day with a simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "That
was a terrific dinner," or "You did a super job."
--3. THE GIFT OF LISTENING:
To be a good listener you must
REALLY listen. Let the other person speak with no interrupting,
no daydreaming, no planning your response...just
listening!
--4. THE GIFT OF AFFECTION:
Be generous with APPROPRIATE hugs,
kisses, pats on the back, and handholds. Let these small actions
demonstrate the love you have for family and friends.
--5. THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER:
Share your laughter and humor by
clipping cartoons, jokes, articles and funny stories. Your gift
will say, "I love to laugh with you!"
--6. THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE:
You can send someone a simple note
that says, "Thanks for the help," or a poem, story, or any kind
of upbeat message. The most brief, handwritten note can
be remembered for a lifetime, and even change a life, you just
never know.
--7. THE GIFT OF A FAVOR:
Every day, go out of your way to do
something kind for someone else. There are plenty of
opportunities for you to do something nice for a friend,
relative, or co-worker on a daily basis. Show the love of
Christ with your acts of kindness to others. Let them see
Jesus in you.
--8. THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE:
There are times when we all want
nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those
times and give the gift of solitude to others.

HERE IS ANOTHER ONE THAT IS REALLY GOOD AND WAS SENT TO ME BY MY LIVING ANGEL, JACK! I'M SURE YOU WILL ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I DO!

I THREW IT OUT

Last week I threw out Worrying,
it was getting old and in the way.
It kept me from being me;
I couldn't do things my way.

I threw out those Inhibitions;
they were just crowding me out.
Made room for my New Growth,
got rid of my old dreams and doubts.

I threw out a book on MY PAST
(didn't have time to read it anyway).
Replaced it with New Goals,
started reading it today.

I threw out childhood toys
(remember how I treasured them so)?
Got me a NEW PHILOSOPHY too,
threw out the one from long ago.

Brought in some new books too,
called I CAN, I WILL, and I MUST.
Threw out I might, I think and I ought.
WOW, You should've seen the dust.

I ran across an OLD FRIEND,
haven't seen him in a while.
I believe his name is GOD,
Yes, I really like His style.

He helped me to do some cleaning
and added some thing's Himself.
Like PRAYER, HOPE and FAITH,
Yes I placed them right on the shelf.

I picked up this special thing
and placed it at the front door.
I FOUND IT - its called PEACE.
Nothing gets me down anymore.

Yes, I've got my house looking nice.
Looks good around the place.
For things like Worry and Trouble
there just isn't any place.

Its good to do a little house cleaning,
get rid of the old things on the shelf.
It sure makes things brighter;
maybe you should TRY IT YOURSELF.

"FAILURE"

Wow! That's an ugly word isn't it? The dictionary says it means, the act, condition, or fact of failing. Simply put, it means you didn't do what you set out to do!
I think there may be some teachers out here that may see this and say, "Oh, how dare she put failure into a meaning such as this." I have been tossing this ugly word in my head for quite sometime now! It isn't a pleasant thought that after going to school for four years and never flunking a class, that I am now! The thought of failing was just not there! That is until my evil twin enrolled me in a class that for me is so absolutely without a doubt the most aggravating class in the world. At least to me it is! Now, some of you who know me very well, know that I don't really have a twin. And, you may think, "Oh, the girl has finally cracked up!" Nope, I am glad to say that I am as sane as I always have been, which may not be saying a lot to some of you. But, saying I have an evil twin is my way of saying, "Whatever possessed me to enroll in Physical Geography?" First of all I couldn't even remember the word, "Geographer." Now, that's not a hard word to remember actually (unless you are completely blonde like me.) Actually, I just plain forgot and one day being so totally frustrated with this class, I said, "I don't want to become a Geographist!" Hmmmmmm! Another word for Sierra's own personal dictionary!
Below, I have taken this nasty word "Failure" and put my own meaning to it. It is my way of staying sane in an insane world! Actually, I just felt like having some fun with this, nasty, ugly, dispicable, and heartwrenching word! I have discovered with the help of a few friends, that failure doesn't always have to be horrible and I have also known for a very long time that you have to have humor in order to survive and this is just plain, fun, humor! I believe everyone fails at something, sometime or another. It can be a small failure, or a very big failure! But! Sitting here at my computer most of the day, off and on, doing laundry, and attempting to do my "G" work, (see, I can't even bring myself to say the word anymore tonight) I have decided that "Failure" has a brand new meaning and if anyone out there wants to see it written anywhere besides on my site, can see "Sierra's New Abridged World Dictionary," that is, as soon as I write it! So! to all those who I know are not going to let their children see this thought, here is my meaning of "FAILURE."

Finally
Allowing my poor
Intelligent brain to
Lie dormant
Until it can
Remember
Everything it's supposed to!

AND THERE YOU HAVE IT!! Enjoy your morning, your afternoon, your evening, or your night! Oh! By the way! Sierra's evil twin, says, "Goodnight, ya'll come back now, ya hear!"

BELOW IS SOMETHING THAT IS SO WELL WORTH READING FOR EVERY MOTHER AND FATHER!

MOTHERS

The young mother set her foot on the path of life.
Is this the long way?" she asked. And the guide
said: "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be
old before you reach the end of it. But the end will
be better than the beginning."

But the young mother was happy, and she would
not believe that anything could be better than
these years.

So she played with her children, and gathered
flowers for them along the way, and bathed them
in the clear streams; and the sun shone on them,
and the young Mother cried, Nothing will ever be
lovelier than this."

Then the night came, and the storm, and the path
was dark, and the children shook with fear and
cold, and the mother drew them close and
covered them with her mantle, and the children
said, "Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near,
and no harm can come."

And the morning came, and there was a hill
ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary,
and the mother was weary. But at all times she
said to the children, "A little patience and we are
there."

So the children climbed, and when they reached
the top they said, "Mother, we would not have
done it without you."

And the mother, when she lay down at night
looked up at the stars and said, "This is a better
day than the last, for my children have learned
fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave
them courage. Today, I have given them
strength."

And the next day came strange clouds which
darkened the earth, clouds of war and hate and
evil, and the children groped and stumbled, and
the mother said: Look up. Lift your eyes to the
light."

And the children looked and saw above the
clouds an everlasting glory, and it guided them
beyond the darkness. And that night the Mother
said, "This is the best day of all, for I have shown
my children God."

And the days went on, and the weeks and the
months and the years, and the mother grew old
and she was little and bent. But her children were
tall and strong, and walked with courage.

And when the way was rough, they lifted her, for
she was as light as a feather; and at last they
came to a hill, and beyond they could see a
shining road and golden gates flung wide. And
mother said: "I have reached the end of my
journey. And now I know the end is better than
the beginning, for my children can walk alone,
and their children after them."

And the children said, " You will always walk with
us, Mother, even when you have gone through the
gates. "And they stood and watched her as she
went on alone, and the gates closed after her.
And they said: We cannot see her, but she is with
us still. A Mother like ours is more than a
memory. She is a living presence."

Your Mother is always with you. She's the
whisper of the leaves as you walk down the
street, she's the smell of bleach in your freshly
laundered socks, she's the cool hand on your
brow when you're not well.

Your Mother lives inside your laughter. And she's
crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place
you came from, your first home; And she's the
map you follow with every step you take. She's
your first love and your first heartbreak, and
nothing on earth can separate you... Not time, not
space...not even death!
